Day 312

We are suppose to take the day off from blogging for the 365 days. WOW! that will give my fingers a rest. Today I broke out the caramel apples. I haven't had these since I was a little girl. My mother use to make them. Now you have those really cool caramel wraps instead of having to take the packages off every single caramel square. The days are going quickly and it feels like nothing is getting done. Oh the madness that has become my life but hey at least I'm taking time to enjoy things like, caramel apples. LOL

Day 313

Oh the headache that is upon me is just unbearable. My thanks today is that I was finally able to get my thoughts down on a list. I actually got about three of those things accomplished today. Woo Hoo!

Day 314

Considering the day I have had I found pleasure in a small variety packet of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans. I love it because I can only eat one at a time. I want to taste the different flavors of each one. Again this is not something I would normally do. Being pregnant has brought out a lot of extraordinary experiences for me. - LOL

Wordless Wednesday - Peek A Boo

School Daze

My poor little boy! It has not been his day at all. 1st I get a text message from the Manny saying that my son told another boy who has dark skin that he is his slave. My son explained to me that he learned all about it during Martin Luther King day and of course we are now in Black History month. I was floored and of course I had lots of explaining to do. Currently he is working on his apology letter to this other little boy and I am hoping I do not get a phone call from an outraged parent. Keeping fingers crossed.

To top it off the teacher sent home this lovely note:
Just to let you know that ---- stuck up his middle finger twice today. I have talked with him about it. Please sign.
WHAT? - How is this possible? My son has no idea what that means. We monitor his entire life. The only place we are not around is at school.
His explanation: Mom, I was showing Michelle the measurements of how long Cat Woman's claws are! He illustrates this by showing me the distance using his middle fingers. He is crying and hugging me. He has no idea why this is bad.
What gets me is that his teacher assumes he knows what that means instead of asking him. He's in the first grade for crying out loud. Guess it's just my mommy bias point of view.

Stress Relief

Today I have noticed that I have some fairly odd reactions to high levels of stress. My first reaction is to bake or make some sort of sweet dessert. It's not enough to just cook something, no it must involve something sweet! Today's line up is Jello no bake strawberry cheesecake. I made the mini cakes. There is a recipe that involves making them in baking cups. I haven't eaten them nor do I normally eat what I make I just make it. I guess it's something to do with my hands. OK - Let me at least try one so that I can tell you what it tastes like. One moment please, WOW! They are so good. I'm going to have to pawn these off on some people because I'm danger of eating them all. I'm going to give a thumbs up on this one. They were very easy to make too.

The other thing that I do when I'm super stressed out is color. I know that sounds odd but again I think it might have something to do with keeping my hands busy. There is a charity called Color A Smile. They have online pictures to print and color. When you are finished you mail the colored pictures to them and they give them out to people in need of a smile. There you have it a new way to combat stress and teach your kids about a neat charity. http://www.colorasmile.org/

Day 315

The highlight of today? My latest samples came in that I have been waiting for and that's a good thing. I made it through the right side of my desk. I guess I will work on the left tomorrow. My daughter stopped by for help with her school project. I'm always glad to help out. :)

Day 316

The highlight of today has basically revolved around the little pleasure in life, food! This morning we at pancakes at grandma's house. YUMMY! For lunch we made a visit to Casa Ole to solve that queso craving. The sun was shining all day but it was so cold. Hope everyone else had a good Saturday too.

McDonalds Madness

So last night I was just starving to death. I get really caught up with work and the computer. It's really bad and I'm aware of it. Any hoo - last night I had to make a mad dash for McDonalds for dinner. I got a double quarter pounder with cheese and it was so yummy! Yes, I ate the whole thing which is very bad for me I know. On the flip side I didn't do any evening snacking. I was full for the evening. I think I'm going to grow into those jeans sooner rather than later.

Day 317

My blog has become this sort of daily journal with a lot of lessons learned mixed in. When I started out blogging I wanted it to be more of a review site but it has evolved into so much more. I'm really thankful for that because it has provided me with so many positive things. I can get things off my mind. I can make an effort to focus on the positive things in my day. There's lots of room to make new friends and who doesn't love comments? I try to make the rounds to fellow bloggers but with as many jobs as I have it's a challenge. So to my Maya Mommies and fellow bloggers thank you for dropping by and letting me know that you are around! I'm in for an interesting weekend. The boys are out camping and it's just me and the Super Star. - LOL - Eeek!

Day 318

Do I have scam magnet printed on my web site or something? Today was yet another wholesale request but this time the company name didn't even exist. This is so frustrating. Where is my silver-lining? Well it's just making me smarter and smarter. Before I even bother sending a price list I make sure they are legit first. It has saved me some time but I am becoming cynical to the process. On another happy note my son brought me home a flower that he picked on the way home from school. :)

Wordless Wednesday made me think of concerts so I thought I would go for 13 concerts that I've been to in my life time. I might not make it to 13! Let's see how it goes. I'm going to start with #1 being my first concert that I ever went to.
1. Bryan Adams - Fun!
2. Survivor - Fun!
3. U2 - Joshua Tree Tour - Flavor Flav opened for them and it rocked!
4. Led Zepplin - Got bored and left.
5. Smashing Pumpkins - Garbage opened for them.
6. The Cure - AWESOME!!!
7. U2 - Zoo TV Tour - Very cool!
8. Kiss - FUN!
9. U2 - PopMart Tour - Smash Mouth opened for them.
10. Boston - Bored to tears.

That's all I've got! But here is who I would LOVE to see.
12. Cold Play

Day 319

After 3 weeks of phone calls and emails I finally was able to get my big guy signed up for soccer! Scary how unorganized these folks are and they don't really advertise the spring season. They are geared toward the fall season instead. My son loves soccer and he's played all sorts of sports but soccer keeps him moving and he loves it. He does those kick slides! It's pretty fun to watch him play. So this was my big appreciation for the day! I wish I was full of good news but the rest of the day just stunk. Oh except for the latest ink samples that I received. I found something that would be great for what I do but the expense is so high I might not be able too. I can dream. The quote won't be complete till morning. Till then.....

Mad Cravings

Last night as I sat watching the season finale of Nip/Tuck I remembered I had made Hidden Valley Ranch Dip. I made it to dip with carrots. Yummy! But last night I thought that Ruffles potato chips would be good to dip. So, I told my dh about my wonderful idea. He knows that is the standard code for - go get me some, please! -LOL - I needed something sweet too so I nominated a box of Lemon Heads.

About 20 minutes of waiting around he finally left and I was waiting with anticipation. He comes up the stairs in the room and he says, "You said Ruffles didn't you?" He bought Lays. Unfortunately I'm not one of those people that rolls with the punches about food, so back to the store he went.

I have to tell you that it was so goooooooood! The Lemon Heads topped it off and I was one happy pregnant lady last night. I know - I have to get these cravings under control or I'm going to seriously regret it but until then I will continue to share my weirdness.

Today's Lesson - Poison Control

This has been my 2nd call to poison control for our little Super Star within 18 months. I wonder if I should put the number on speed dial. The first call was for charcoal brickettes that he ate from the backyard. He was fine those are non-toxic.

Last night our 7 year old got a brand new pair of soccer shoes. Inside those shoes are those little packs that clearly say DO NOT EAT! Well this morning our mighty toddler got into the bag pulled out the shoes and ate one of those packages. He was about to devour the 2nd package when the 7 year old took it away. Frantically I ask the 7 year old "Where is the other package!?" "How much did he eat!?" He says, "I don't know! I can't find the package I took from him." OMG!

Where was I? Oh I thought I could sneak a 5 minute shower without any real danger occurring. Insert Stupid stamp here!

I immediately call my husband but NA at any of the 3 numbers he has. Then I Google Poison Control and speak to Holly. She reassures me that he is fine. "No need to make him throw up" she says! Ahhh! Thank God! She explains those packages are non toxic and will be absorbed in his stool and she will call to check on him in an hour. Good Lord! All before 8am. What a morning!

Wordless Wednesday - Vertigo Tour - Great Concert

Day 320

Today was a bit depressing but as always I've found a silver lining. As a small business owner it is always a great dream to have your items in a store where people can touch and feel your what you're selling. It's always a bit of raised hope when someone wants a wholesale sheet and then wants to see your product for themselves. That has happened a few times but nothing has panned out yet. Today was different though. I had been dealing with a person who requested this whole song and dance. But all in all it was a scam and she was using the name and information of a business clear across the other side of the U.S. When I couldn't find information about the store within the state I began further investigations. I contacted the actual store and it's owner and we began trading information. There is my silver lining today. I helped another business owner from being scammed and saved myself the funds that would have been lost in sending my product. Maybe next time I will have better results.

Running For The Border

Oh yes! Being pregnant is bringing on lots of issues. Yesterday I had this craving for Casa Ole and since we are very low on cash I made tacos at home instead. We ate about 6 or so I can't remember (another issue of pregnancy - zero short term memory) and around 8:30pm I was starving to death. I sent my dh on a mission. I needed Taco Bell and I needed it STAT! I had to have a crunchy taco, bean burrito - no onions, and a steak fajita quesadilla. Who knew? So off he went like a good man to fetch and solve my cravings. We shared the meal and I was totally satisfied. LOL - What a ride!

Day 321

I am hard pressed to find a silver lining today. I have been ill all weekend and it isn't over. My hair hurts! What is that? My head aches and then my stomach aches. None of these things are pleasant. But on a good note my dh did make it home by 5:30pm and I am so thankful because I'm just not myself. Most days he gets home around 7pm. Ugh, but not today! Woo Hoo. I'm going to go get horizontal now till tomorrow...

And Then There Was Sports Illustrated

We (the whole family) are at the grocery store today standing in the check out line when I catch my 7 year old staring at a copy of Sports Illustrated. The display had part of the issues with the back cover and the other half with the front cover. I was floored! I wanted to cover his eyes or nudge him or something. I didn't because I was just frozen. I look over at my dh who is standing on the other side of the basket and he is just smiling. He says to me, "Get Ready Mom!" What????? Noooooooooooooooooooooooo My baby boy, he's only 7! My dh says, "It's only 3 more years until puberty." Seriously? Where did the time go? Say it isn't so! Doesn't he know that I'm not ready? Isn't there something I can do? LOL - No. This was truly a disturbing part of my day. Girls in bikinis hugging a beer! That was the back cover. Seriously? Thanks, Sport Illustrated. Here is a link so you can see the cover. Warning! LOL - Make sure there aren't any little kids around.

Day 322

I'm super excited and I hope the line does well. That is the fun part about designing, you just never know if it's going to be a hit or a miss. You do your best and hope! I do a lot of that. Happy Valentine's Day to me

First thing this morning before I got out of bed I was thrown a heart shaped velvet box of Dove chocolates. It's the Truffle Hearts Collection! How sweet and what a wonderful way to wake up. It was followed by "Happy Valentine's Day Mommy!" Yes, my little guy was the first to greet me with holiday cheer. I've never eaten any of the Dove brand chocolates. I know where have I been? I don't know but here it goes. There is a mix of the Truffle Heart - Dark and Truffle Heart - Milk. They are both pretty good, 2 down and only 14 more to go. Oh boy!

Makes you slender in a second!

OK so I bit! I was at my local Sam's Club the other day and saw these jeans. I'm still waiting until I can fit into my Levi's that are all hanging in my closet. Needless to say with my situation it's going to be at least another year! Any way I see these jeans and it says, "The Marissa Fit Jean", "Makes you slender in a second!" Really? But there's more the little marketing graphic attached to the jeans says they are stretch! It shows me the Before and After and it's going to "Enhance curves where I desire with a comfortable fit." Oh - I'm in! I grab a size 14 just because I don't know what size I am. I haven't bought a pair of jeans since??? You get the picture. I bring them home and try them on and low and behold do they stretch! They are too big. When I walk they slide down my muffin hips! How is this possible?? I have no idea but they do feel good. Did they make me slender in a second? Not at all. Could be that 14 is not the right size for me. They are good enough to keep around though. I'm going to grow so why not. In order to really test these out I'm going to have to go back and get a smaller size. Woo Hoo! Then I might be able to tell you if I look slender in a second. Right now, it's not working for me. LOL
I did try to Google these jeans and I can't find them any where! If I find them I'll be sure to link them.

Today is the post for Thursday 13 and I love the Wordless Wednesdays too! Those are my favorite memes and I look forward to them each week. I actually made it for an eyebrow wax today! Woo Hoo! - I know longer have the bush man eyebrows going on and I'm thankful for that. It's about the only thing I actually keep up with. LOL - That's so sad. I saw a Suave commercial last night that gave some sort of 78% of women let themselves go after having kids. LOL - I thought they were talking to me! I'm about to have another one so I guess my family will be waiting a while to see a different me. I'm really looking forward to 40. I hear it's the new 20.

Thursday Thirteen - A Few of His Favorite Things

Here are some photos I've been wanting to share. What better way than to share them in a Thursday 13 as some of his favorite things!

He loves my cell phone. I've gone through a few of them because of his slobber. He doesn't slobber on the phone any more. Now he just pretends he's talking to someone. He babbles something and then tells them good-bye. LOL

He's a big fan of Honey Nut Cheerios. This particular day he decided to help himself to the box. As you can see he made himself right at home in the middle of the table with the whole bag. Yes, I had to grab my camera.

He loves his big brother. He likes to crawl on him and body slam him when he least expects it. His big brother is a very good sport! They play pretty well together.

Our neighbors went to Mardi-Gras. They brought our boys back plenty of beads. He loves them! He wears them every chance he gets. He leaves them all over the house too!

He loves the pots and pans! If he can sit in them all the better. He pulls them all out but with a little help he will put them all back too.

When we go to visit his grandma and great-grandma (pictured here) he loves to get in the cabinets. She lets him do just about anything he wants over there. She spoils him rotten and sends him home. He loves it!

These are his favorite pajamas. These are spider man pajamas with the web on the sides. He looks adorable. His Manny taught him how to raise his hands and say "Touch Down!" Which is what he is doing here in this photo.

This morning he enjoyed (rather thoroughly) some strawberry yogurt. Then he proceeded to stick his hands in his milk and wash his hair. It was a fun morning!

Today he wanted to work Mommy's digital camera. He sees me taking lots of photos so he wanted to give it a try. He could see his Manny here through the window and very quickly figured out which button to push.

This is his favorite Thomas The Train hat. He puts it on and says, "Choo! Choo!"

He loves to play in his Daddy's shirts. He is tall enough to pull them out of his closet. They are so big on him that he tends to trip over the shirt once he gets it on. It is hilarious to watch. Although now he has taken to pulling my shirts out of my closet too!

Apparently I must work an awful lot because he's always trying to steal my chair. Sometime he will crawl behind me and kick me out of it! He loves to sit in my chair and grab my pens and bang on my keyboard.

He loves the floaty and the water. He would stay in water all day if we would let him. He tries to swim in the bathtub. It's really cute. He really loves his big sister. He wants all her attention when she comes to visit!

Day 327

I'm not sure what happened today but all of a sudden I got a lot of requests to review Happy Panda products. I was getting those out left and right. The best part of the day was conquering the bean burrito! I love Taco Bell's bean burritos but they don't put enough sauce or cheese on them. Today while at the grocery store I bought a few things and came home and made it all. Those were the best burritos! Now, if I could just figure out how to fold them...

Day 330

And the quest continues! At the beginning of the year we mapped out all of our financial debt on a nifty excel spreadsheet. We started out with 10 line items. Last week we paid our monster Sears bill. Our kitchen got a bit of a face lift a year ago. Today we paid yet another monster card. It wasn't so much the balance it was the 33% APR. How that happened I have NO idea. Either way that one has bitten the dust! Woo Hoo - I'm so thankful for that and there is only 8 more to go. It's going to be a very slim year but as long as we kill off some of this revolving debt who cares!

Day 331

Today was just weird. I had so much to do but it doesn't feel like I got anything done. Who cares! Let me share this really cute story that I am thankful for today. My 7 year old wrote a story and he brought it home from school. I really wish that I could scan it so you could see all the accompanying pictures that he drew. I think that would take up too much space. I'll just share his thoughts so here it goes.

If I had 100... by dlk

If I had 100 lemons I would have a lemonade party with my friends and family. And we had cake and pizza. If I had 100 cupcakes, I would sale fifty and share the rest with my friends. If I had 100 paper clips, I would make a chain and climb it. Since there is only one of me, I will ask my mother to make more of me. LOLOLOLOL - He's awesome.

Today I conquered the weevles in my pantry! Rotten little things. It only took 2 hours out of my day. Then I helped my son write his report on Benjamin Harrison the 23rd president. That project only took about 4 days.

My son came home with a Valentine decoration depicting Dad, Mom, Sister and Brother. He seems to think that collar around the Mom's neck is a "nipple wrap thing!" Insert laughter here. Ahhh good times! I'm so thankful for that.

Thursday Thirteen - 10 1/2 Weeks

OK - I tried to find a photo of a 10 week old fetus that was blogger friendly. Instead I found a photo of this 10 week old panda! I thought it was pretty cute. Today was a fun filled day at my OBGYN. Allow me to share 13 things about my trip. Here we go!

1.) I read an article in (short term memory faulty, sorry) a magazine about how men really do like the feel of natural women as opposed to those who have had some form of plastic surgery.
2.) My scale and the doctors scale has a difference of 5 pounds. Guess which scale you don't want to get on? LOL
3.) With all of my poor eating habits this past month (cheetos, cheeseburgers, muffins, cupcakes, lemon bundt cake, brownies, cinnamon rolls, chocolate, etc.) I only gained 2 pounds! What???
4.) I sat wrapped in a pink paper gown if you can call it that waiting for the doctor for 45 minutes! WT??? Grrrrrr
5.) I was so nervous looking at all the little tools and kits sitting out waiting for me that I began to sweat in my paper gown. Ewwwwwww!
6.) The light above me was covered with this cover that had a scene with a serene blue sky, white clouds, humming birds, butterflies, and a green tree. Very calming if you ask me.
7.) My doctor opened the door, acknowledged that he was late and immediately apologized.
8.) He's like a good mechanic! LOL - I drive across town for this man. He is a wonderful doctor and when you find one, you stick with them. Let's just say he's gentle. I've had female doctors (not so gentle) and an older male doctor (Extremely rough!). They were fired!
9.) He's delivered both my boys and this will be the third. :)
10.) His name is Dr. La. He looks like he's 23! He's aging well but has 3 little daughters. There will be lots of weddings to pay for in his future.
11.) He used that little hand held ultrasound microphone to hear the baby's heart beat. It's really fast.
12.) During the second part of the exam he was gathering his tools and there was that metal sound. Ugh! No details just Ugh!
13.) They gave me a huge bag full of goodies and reading materials. After asking a few questions and talking with the receptionist I get to ad my marketing materials for Happy Panda in the bags! Sweeeeeeeeeeet.

Lonely Little Boy

My son told my dh that he doesn't have any friends in his class. He says no one talks to him or plays with him. He says he's very lonely on the playground. Sometimes a couple boys will let him play but he mostly swings by himself. He doesn't talk to anyone at lunch. OMG - That is the sadest thing I've ever heard. I took out his class photo to make sure none of these kids were his friends. He told us about who plays with who and who talks to who. He's in none of those groups. That makes me so freakin sad. Sucking It Up!

So it started out a good day but later in the evening I had to start sucking it up! There I am at my Mother's house watching my daughter unpack her things. My Mother and Grandmother had been working all morning making room for her. They cleaned out the closet and drawers in the extra bedroom. I had picked her up so she could unload some boxes. It seemed like a good idea at the time but there I was watching it happen. She's unpacking her things into my old room, into my old furniture! I'm afraid there was a whole different set of emotions I was going through. I found myself there just sucking it up! Breathing deep and leaving the room, walking around some more and talking to my Gram.

Then came dinner. We all decided to go out to eat. The place were we decided to eat is also home to my daughter's boyfriend's parents. There they were, drinking Margaritas. Seems harmless enough right? NO! There are these people that my daughter spends 90% of her time with. These are the people who know all about this situation and so much more. This is the woman who thinks she has the right to pass judgment on my parenting skills. Oh yes, I'm sucking it up even more. But I smile and breath deep. We are all in separate cars and I'm waiting for my Mom and Gram to show. I'm waiting for my dh and kids to show. My daughter is sitting there very comfortably with her "future?" sister-in-law??? Ewwwwwwwwww!

Finally they all arrive and I can now move on with my dinner plans. I'm just glad it's over and I'm away from all of them. I'm back where it's safe and I know longer have to suck up anything!

Day 335

I wanted to go see Over Her Dead Body. Normally I would worry about finding someone to go with me. Today I figured that I was going whether I found someone or not. I asked my Mom and Gram if they wanted to go but they weren't sure if they would make it on time but if they could they would.

The time came and I bought my one ticket. I purchased my medium Sprite and popcorn. I was totally set to go. I picked out my own seat. There I was, alone at the movies. It was rather a liberating experience.

People kept coming during the previews but no Mom or Grandma. I became comfortable with the idea that they weren't going to show. I was there by myself watching a movie. I was so proud of myself. The movie started and five minutes into the movie there they were looking for me. I waved until they saw me. We all watched the movie together. We laughed it was good fun. I'm thankful for the courage and the laughter!

My Battle With Baking

OK so the sunflower seeds helped me out a bit but then I went downstairs and hooked myself up with some chili cheese Fritos. OMG - They were so yummy! That lemon bundt cake that I baked yesterday is still lurking about. - LOL - Today I baked those brownies while I was chewing gum!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh pregnancy is crazy. I'm losing the baking battle.

Day 336

Today was a strange day indeed. It was my bf's last day to work with me. I'm afraid my company didn't have the funds to support an employee for another year. However, we certainly went out with a bang! We went to a Mexican food restaurant for lunch and then we ate brownies for dessert. This is not going to help me at my next weigh in at the Dr. but we had fun. I'm just thankful that we were able to work together for a year. We learned so much together and developed skills that we didn't even know we had. It was a great learning experience and I'm thankful for that. Maybe with any luck she can get her business going and we can work together again.

OH - And my daughter sent me a text to let me know that did 20 foites. I asked her if she was dizzy! LOL
